Heartless Owners, Helpless Victims Empty Heartless Owners, Helpless Victims

Last night before going to bed I heard the dogs barking furiously at something. I checked outside and saw nothing.

Upon waking this morning and checking them I noticed a brown/white dog that looks like a red nosed pit bull laying about 2 feet from the dog pens. Our dogs were now quiet allowing him to sleep there. Amazing how dogs can sometimes communicate and allow other dogs safety.

I ran him off even though he was friendly and had sad eyes. Thinking he was from a house maybe a mile down the road in any direction.

However come evening he was still milling around the edge of the property watching us. Realizing someone had probably abandoned him here on our corner, I called him back and gave him some food and water since his ribs were beginning to show.

How can anyone, with any feelings, just pull to the side of the road and say goodbye to such a nice pet as this. He is very gentle, appears to be about 2 years old. Very well mannered when eating. Our dogs accepted him and allowed him to sleep close to the kennels for safety I guess.

This morning I found him laying in the shop just in the doorway twitching to some dreams I suppose. He jumped up when he heard me and I snapped a picture of him.

I am going to place flyers up in the area and see if perhaps he is lost, but I doubt it. We have dubbed him "Buddy" for the time being.

That is so sad. How many dogs do you already have? I get people leaving their cats at the end of my property. I never see them do it but these "strays" show up eventually. In the Spring I had 5 but they may have gone into hiding.

We have 2 Great Danes, 1 Rottweiler, 1 Bull Mastiff that are kept in a large Kennel in the yard.

We have 3 out door cats that were drop offs over the last 7 years.

I'm hoping that we find a home for this little fella before we get too attached.

If it's a pit bull or even close I wouldn't keep it, pitbulls are banned in Ontario, and rightly so IMO.

I agree. I don't need it, but I have to be very, very careful how I find a home for him. I don't want someone to get him under the pretense of giving him a good home, and then fighting him in the Pit Bull fights.

I think those people should do hard jail time for Pitbull fighting.

Can you phone your local police to see if anyone has reported the loss of their pet, or do your police not get involved like ours do. Maybe with the flyer's someone will come forward after recognising him. As for abandoned animals, I am an animal lover and any form of mistreatment makes me very angry. I have heard and read some terrible stories here in the UK, this is a problem unfortunately that goes on in many countries, yet animals are so loyal and trusting of their owners.

Pit-bull fighting is illegal in the UK but it does go on.
