    Well here it is
    The Winter's past
    I hope that we
    Have seen the last
    Of blinding snow
    And frosty noses
    Now that the
    Past season closes

    Bring us
    Daffodils of Spring
    Caws of crows
    And robins
    Singing!!
    Bring to us
    The sprouting green
    Showers cleanse
    This grimey scene
    That winter's wrath
    Has left behind
    Leave no sign
    Of any kind
    Showers wash away
    The dirt
    Bring new life
    Sprouting
    'Neath the earth
    Sunny days
    To warm our faces
    Spirits to
    Uplift our paces
    Spring is here!!
    Let's all rejoice!
    Hurrah!!
    Until.......
    We've muted voice!

    Eeeh by that were grand
It were just reet for this promised land
Now that snow and muck's away
We can look forward to a nice spring day
    See the crocus and daffodil
Pop through the grass on yonder hill
Listen to the first Spring bird
Ah heard a cockoo.... Ah that's absurd.

    A Natural Mood

    To capture this mood
You must have time to reflect,
    Harmonise with your soul
    Let life's rhythm project.
Let the you that is you
Rise and come to the fore,
    Then feel Nature's own vibes
    As you've not done before.

Like the soft sound of a wind
O'er the face of a pond
    Lifting eyes to the sky
    And the Heavens beyond.
    The unfurling of leaves
In those first days of Spring
    Lightens the darkness
    That Winter did bring.

    The buds on the bough
    Carry the promise of flower,
    The gardens are freshened
    By April's first shower.
    The peace is unbroken
    In dawn's early light,
    The dew dances and sparkles
    And does the insects, invite.

    For the blossoms await
    Full of nectar so sweet,
    The visitation by bees
    Or the small parakeet.
    Try and listen with me
As we dwell on these things,
To the soft sound of the wind
    As it whispers and sings.

For you to capture this mood
You must have time to reflect,
    Harmonise with your soul
    Let life's rhythm project.
Let the you that is you
Rise, and come to the fore,
Then may you feel Nature's vibes
    As you've not done before.

Just for you Willow! Its the first I have written in ages!

    Well my dear,
    It's winter here
    That's on it's way
    And I look forward
    To the subtle beauty
    Most folks never see.

    The warning signs
    Of winters blasts
    Are colours of the rainbow
    And next will come
    The quiet cold
    And creatures sleep
    All warm and snug

    Let winter rant
    And winter rave
    Let the storms rage
    And the wind blow
Let all be wet and cold outside
Let the hail fall and the fog flow

For here inside my little home
    All is warm and cosy
It's filled with love from near and far
It's time to count my blessings!

Willow, How long have we known each other? You know I can't just write a pome , it has to come from somewhere and I never know where or when the muse will strike! And if it rhymes, I just can't relate to it at all! So please forgive me and just call me an eccentric old dame and I will always share with you whatever the muse permits!

    LOL!!

    Hey Dawn!!

DaffyD is most forgiving (me thinks)
    To the unrhyming writers penning
    'Mongst us novice poets
That you are not!...jus' cuz' I know it!
All it takes...is just a spark
To light the fire in your heart
    True colors...
    You'll be showing!!

    Dawn....
I write in rhyme, you write in prose
I am the thorn to your beautiful rose
As is with you its the thought that inspires
But my brain being old, it so quickly tires
My verse is a reaction, perhaps so is your prose
So we shall leave it at that..... and see how it goes.

Sooooo...great to see you join us DaffyD and Dawn!!

And so we ramble with our rhymes
Some of us ...three quarter time
    Some profound poetic expression
    Some with words..perhaps a lesson
    Others chat about their day
    Rhyme or prose..in any way

Shout it out what makes you glad
Weep with us, if you are sad
Laugh if you can share a giggle
Tickle us, so we can wiggle
'Mongst the words and thoughts and rhymes..
    Squiggle in..at any time!~~~~~~~

So you're handing out these 'I love you's'
The 'How are yis' and 'Howdydoos'
    To celebrate the birthday news
Without a drop of the beer that brews
To help us shake off the winter blues.

Arising in our ones and twos
    From hibernation and seasonal flu's
We'll search around for further clues
As we join the line that forms the queues
    Of contributors posting, interesting views.
Closing their posts with their 'I love yous'

    Where's the cake then?

    But doest thou need
    Such tempting favors
    To remain 'mongst
    Us forever??!!!!
    Surely gifts.....
    Of Sweets and Brew
    Won't surpass
    Both Me and you!!

Eeh by gum you're a bonnie lass
But I'm walking out with a whisky glass
A generous measure of that magic brew
    And there's not anything, I won't do
How about a sonnet or an acrostic verse
Some deflated couplets? There's nothing worse.
A septet, octet or rondeau poem
Wouldna drag me from my home
For that is where my decanter bides
A place that this old man resides.

Pay ye no mind to what I say,
'tis but with words that I do play
Those foriegn words of which I wrote
Are but poetic styles upon which, some dote
Personally when I have a go
I just open up and let words flow
    Septet, octet, acrostic verse
To corral ones words, there's nothing worse
For me the metre does the trick
Don't use those others, I'm too thick.

A couple of small pomes about my cats.

    MINA

    Little cat face
    Furry and fine,
    Do you see my soul?

    Little cat paws
    Fluffy and soft,
    Why do you scratch?

    Little cat eyes
    Starry and wide,
    All knowing of mysteries!

    Little cat body
    Warm and round,
    How you can play!

    Little cat sleeps
    Cosy and warm,
    Curled on my bed.

    Little cat purr
    Trill and croon,
    What a heavenly sound!

    DREAM TIME

As I floated through the cosmic mists
    Over an angry turbulent sea
    I espied a strip-ed tiger fish
    Being landed on the quay.
I then saw a zebra crossing
    And a pelican followed suit,
I met an owl with laryngitis
    Who couldn't give a hoot.

    A chocolate covered penquin
    Lay melting in the sun,
    A hyena started laughing
    Was it really having fun?
    Did all this really happen
In this place I love to be?
Of course, and plenty more besides
It was my dreamtime, don't you see?

Willow's Workshop - Page 4 Empty My Own Olympiad

Post by daffyd Mon Apr 04, 2011 3:01 pm

    OLYMPICS 2012......Eat your heart out!

    I'm really not into running

    That is, not any more,

The only time I get involved

Is if my nose runs when it's sore.

    Let's move along to jumping

    I'm very good at that

You see I jump to conclusions

    Alone here in my flat.

    Then there is the shot-put

Now that's one I can do

In fact I got a medal for it

    Throwing grenades, in '42

    Boxing, now that's craftsman's game

I've made one or two of those.

Equestrian, the nearest I've been to horses

Has been when I'm drying clothes.

So you see I'm quite an armchair sportsman

Not bad for an old Granddad

Now that's the closest I will ever get

    To hosting my own Olympiad!

I'm betwixt the eve and morn

My poetic mind is not my norm

    So DaffyD, I shall return

    When grogginess, I've overcome

Then 'haps I'll conjure up some crazies

    Maybe tigers, dressed as ladies...

    Maybe donkeys in a choir

    Silly things, most can't admire

    Hmmm...a duck preparing dinner

Or a Nun who is a sinner....

    Really, 'cuz I'm half asleep

    I can't utter 'nother peep!

Arh, now I see..... catching some ZZZZZZZZ not bothering about us. Here is one for absent wives from their loving husbands....

    AN INSOMNIAC'S DREAM

You were not here again last night
That's why I could not sleep,
Will you be here with me tonight
Or shall I have recourse to weep?
Your presence will placate my heart
    Soothe my troubled mind,
Your absence will erode our love
    And leave only memories behind.

Memories of those nights we shared
And of the love that grew.
    Memories of the heartache
During those long hours away from you.
Will you my dear, be here tonight
To help heal my broken heart?
You were not here again, last night,
    Why keep our love apart?

Alas my dear, if you had helped
Me with my chores and children...
    Maybe then, your loveless bed
    'Twouldn't be not so bewilderin'...
Pick up your old smelly socks
    Scrub the bath behind you
Wash the dishes in the sink
Ne'er mind the game that blinds you!
Maybe you can take a minute
    Have a cleansing shower
Woo your love with roses redroses
    Perhaps the midnight hour.....
Will be the answer to your dreams
You'll have no recourse to weep
You'll find your loved one in your bed
Then sink to blissful sleep! Zzzzzzzz
