    I love the scent of lilacs outside but in the house I find the fragrance too strong for me.

    I like lilacs too and I have only two small plants. One I got from a friend last year and one I brought when I moved. Don't like the habit that they have of taking over a whole field. There are many clumps here on the farm that have now gone wild.

    Lilacs have a habit of "spreading their roots/"wings" for sure!....but I absolutely love the scent of lilacs as I sniffle and sneeze and go through a box of tissue in their midst!

    Bring out the Kleenex!....I'm sittin' through the Lilacs!!

    I got the roots for our lilac bush a long time ago at an old farm where the house no longer stood but the lilac bush remained.

    We keep it pruned back and trimmed so it stays a uniform size. About three years ago it was pruned severely so for a couple of years there were very few blooms but this year there were many blooms.

    It will soon be time to trim it again.
