A U.S. woman says she has her freedom back after a judge ruled she could keep using two toilets and a sink as planters in her front yard.

Tina Asmus initially took a used toilet from one of her friends she describes as a junk guy. "I thought it would be funny and interesting," she said to the Northwest Herald. Then she needed a second toilet so the house would be symmetrical.

Would you use it this way?

Toilet planters in a front yard is tacky to me,
but it's her yard so I guess she should be able to have them
    if she wants to. Laughing

You know, I can't help thinking about the neighborhood kitties.

After all, some kitties do have a thing about using the neighbor's flowerbeds rather than their owners.

Wondering what would happen should they decide to do their business in this toity Very Happy

It is very tacky, probably would lower housing values too. Funny at first but not if they are permanent.

Well I had a kitchen sink in the ground until the other day.

It had winter onions in it.

My son dug it up and the spot he has now planted three tea plants. The old kitchen sink will go to to dump. It was the original sink when we moved in the house in 1967. No telling how old it was prior to that.

Oh came back to say the winter onions are in a corner of one of the gardens.

I want to plant dill seed this year.

Our asparagus is doing great already.

Ig.....your topic "This Toilet Is Potted"...might be inspiration for gardeners to reuse and recycle unusual items in creative ways and maybe .....it could seriously be a fun new topic!!

On my balcony, I have an antique torquoise enamel jug...all battered and chipped, that I plant a trailing vine in every year and it is beautiful!

I also have an old bamboo Victorian-style chair with it's reeds unravelling and it's faded and worn from the rain and sun and it's seat had become unravelled, so I cut out the seat and inserted an antique blue enamel canner into the opening to contain different plants every year.

An old rusty milk-can has become the base of a large plant pot.

An old wooden crate turned up on it's side has become another base. Behind it, concealed in it's opening, I have a container holding gardening equipment and extra chachkies....and as "table-top" on that old crate....I've used an antique circular cast iron heating vent which is now rusty from the weather. It serves as a table for another plant

I love using old/delapitated items in garden decor...however iit must be used creatively, and the toitie-bowl planter should be tucked in the rear of a shady nook in the garden with maybe...some begonias trailing out of it.

Your topic, Ig.....might be a creative inspiration for gardeners. Maybe this is a good place to share how we all have recycled and reused unusual objects in gardening.

Isn't it fun to think of ways to use old stuff for planters!?

I have seen old boots made into planters too!

We have a big old cast iron tub, about 16 inches across, by our back step.
I painted it black years ago as it was rusted, and filled it with soil.
In late spring every year I put a geranium in the middle, surrounded by impatients.
The plants do well and it makes a colourful sight there for visitors and us
    to see.

The plants get the morning sun until about noon with shade later.

My late hubby had a pair of trekking boots that had seen their better day.

Rather than discard them, I hammered the heck out of them....and then spritzed them with spray paint.....off white/rust.greenish...and I gouged out the toes to allow succulents to creep out and above the cuff area.
These old trekking boots only became better with age! When I moved to my apartment, my friend inherited those old boots...and they still nestle amongst her garden.

I still say that this sort of "creative gardening" needs a place of it's own here in this forum. Anyone here have some creative ideas for recycling and creatively using "stuff"??
