How often you maintain and dust your computer?

I sometimes do maintenance more than once a week. This includes Disk Clean, Virus Check and Defragmentation. I also check for updates before I use them but some have automatic update, which is good.

I use Windows Disk Clean. To use this Tool go to:

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Clean

Since drive C is the one I use most, that is the one I clean.

To Defrag:

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Defragmentation

Drive C again.

I find that though this defragmenting tool does a good job, I use Defraggler for my defragging. It is a small program that is thorough and fast, found here: www.piriform.com/defraggler

I also use an anti-spyware/adware program called SuperAntiSpyware. It is found here: www.superantispyware.com/download.html

I will also use CCleaner but not as often. Found here: www.piriform.com/ccleaner.

Then my anti-virus. I have tried most of the popular ones but at the moment I am using Avira. Found here: www.free-av.com/en/download/1/avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.html

All these programs work and is only a matter of preference. They help to keep your computer running smoothly, so keep your computer clean.

About once every 3 months or so, I dust my computer with compressed air. It is found at office supplies stores. The cost for a can is under $10. I found that keeping my tower on the floor allows it to attract more dust so I have it sitting on a table at the moment, off the floor. I did a dusting and relocation about two weeks ago.

I'm so negligent about maintanance, mainly because my son usually does it for me, but I will copy and paste this info...right smack where I can see it and be reminded about it.

(Hope that it doesn't get lost amongst my other many reminders! :shock: :pale: )

Thanks for the great tips to help everyone. I do a good scan and clean once a week.
