Poetry..a line or more at a time Empty Poetry..a line or more at a time

Post by Willows Thu Aug 18, 2011 2:53 pm

The Topic "My Love For Poetry " is now closed.

We will begin again under a new topic.

This is the second poem that we all will write......the first ...entitled "Mary Down The Lane" under the topic of My Love For Poetry.
That Poem is now closed so we will begin again. I do hope that that poem remains in our Archives, because we all committed ourselves to it.

I think that this is a good way to engage all of our members in a bit of poetry
whether they are novices or pros.......so come on in all of you and join us in the fun!

    Well, our last story's done
    Let's begin another one
Let's see where this rhyme will go
One for me and one for you....
We'll stop the rhyme when it's a drone
    Then we'll begin another one.
And if your words will overflow
To more than one line...well you know
    Your prowess in poetic lines

Will suit our poetry just fine! Very Happy

    And so...the new poem begins..........

Jacob had a field of corn.....

This poem has become stagnant at one line at a time...so I'm writing a verse to get us going again. One line....two...or however many!!

What was Jacob's wife to do?
Sit around a year or two?
Kids to feed and corn fields dying......
'Stead of sittin' 'round and cryin'.......
She got to "work" ...out every night
And rose the morn, against her might
To care and feed her hungry kids...
    Much more than Jacob..ever did!!

(Here you go...carry on a line or more!)

There were days when 'work' was slack
So she steered her talents on a different tack
She wrote about the life she'd led
With the 'highs' the 'lows' and the tears she'd shed,
Her scribblings blossomed into a book
Now her life took on a different look
She became an author of great repute
From rags to riches....now ain't that cute?

But somehow her story don't ring true.
If she had so much work to do,
How'd she find the time to write a book
Cause most writers know the time it took

So why don't we start another poem?
And keep it short, instead of a tome.
My fingers are not as nimble as they were before.
And all this hunting and pecking has made them sore.
So I'll sign out, and let DaffyD
Step up and hold the fort for me.

    My apologies for butting in
but I thought I'd give this one a spin....
....if Mary had a little lamb
The good doctors would be amazed
And people would come from miles around
And photograph it whilst it grazed.

A call to arms my friend doth cry
Wuzfuz urges. gwan... give it a try
So once more in to the breech my friends
To write a poem with numerous ends
    Continuous in theme....maybe
But in shorter bursts of harmony.

Such as the lass who rode her horse
Into a bush of prickly gorse
The horse alarmed did throw its rider
Slipped on some mud and sat down beside her.
Both horse and rider....an amusing sight
Suffered cuts and bruises, but most were light.

    When a big hairy spider,
    Sat down beside her.
    And really. spoiled her day
But why talk only about girls
    And all of their perils?
I know that boys, have their bad days
And have their day spoiled, in much worse ways.
Today mine started in a terrible stew.

Like you gents I shall not be tarryin'
I'll leave it ta' ye and yer wonderous tales..
To boast how great it is to be males.
And Robin Hood and Marion in Sherwood Forest,
Who the Sheriff was never able to arrest
And was Robin the guy who shot an arrow at an apple sitting on his son''s head.
Or is that the subject of another thread?
Like the Pied Piper of Hamelin
Who led the rats that followed him
With cheers of the farmers whose grain the were steal'n

Lost in an avalanche of Grimm's fairy tales
The gist of the task into insignificance sails
    For the thread is confused
To which one is not used
And the output, alas, it just fails!

    No need for morose
When you write like you do
    There are many out there
    Who haven't a clue
Its the fact that you feel
    There's a poem inside
It's those that sit on the fence
    I cannot abide
So more power to your pen
    Dear Wuzfuz my friend

A few more lines and this must end
    But not to worry
There's a lot more to this story.
    So have no fears,

    There is never a time
When you won't feel that rhyme

Talking of 'drams' I'm partial to they
I ensure that I have one at least once a day
A generous measure of that fine highland wine
An hour before I sit down to dine
If dinner is late I might stretch to two
I'll have one tonight and raise my glass, to you!

Well thanks Daffy D ,I'll just reciprocate
Because that is how you treat a good mate
Beautiful warm, sunny Autumn day, our neck of the wood
Going for a spin on my motorcycle, that's good
Soon have to put it to sleep,
Tucking it away for the Winter, makes me weep. Sad
