    What's Blooming Empty What's Blooming

Post by islandgrl Sun May 29, 2011 1:04 pm

I have a lot of plants blooming right now and some have faded already. My garden flowers in waves of colour. First it is yellow and white daffodils, then yellow and red, then whites (early irises), now it is a lot of blues an some pinks and purples.

The tree peonies are now opening up but the herbaceous peonies are just forming buds.I was going to feed them some special food but had to run from the rain and then... completely forgot to do it. Hmm... I wonder if it is too late. Oh well, better late than never. Today is the day for that.

Remember to click on the thumbnail for a larger view.

Variegated Solomon's Seal (I also have the plain green leaves).

Early White Iris (this iris has a hint of gray, so I would say it isn't completely white)

A clump of orchids from the swamp. The brown petals curl like a corkscrew.

    One of my azeleas.

    Tree peonies. More to come.

    Beautiful pictures Islandgrl!!!
It would be a treat to walk through your gardens and see all the lovely plants and flowers.

I know it takes many hours of work to have such a spectacular display.

This type of weather is very hard on my garden. This extended dryness and heat is taking it's toll. I managed to finds some plants to take pictures of.

Some of my roses all from cuttings.

Love poppies but they fade too fast never to return. These ones are annuals.

    WOW!!

Islandgrl, I would love to sneak into your rose garden and
pick a big bouquet! They are beautiful as are the poppies
    and climatis.
Do you have a garden bench so you can sit and gaze at all those
    lovely blossoms?

I have two benches but not in the garden. One is under maple trees and one on the deck. Both in view of the garden. Also have two of those small benches with a boy and girl sitting on each one. They were given to me about a month ago by my sister who has sold her house and is moving. Will post pictures of them soon. Have to upload some pics of July 1st that I took in Niagara Falls.

Such beautiful blossoms, Ig! Bet that your garden benches rarely meet your "bottom"! LOL! Surely you don't have time to sit and when you do....you're looking or thinking about the next gardening thing to do! When I had a garden, I briefly sat down, and then I was up again because I noticed that this or that had to be done.

In other words....busy as a bee in your garden! stickman

It started out as a dull morning and now there is a little drizzle. Good for everything as it has been so dry. I took these pictures of the garden and of some of my perennial hibiscus. These are dinner plate sized flowers.

A lot of plants are still blooming. Among the roses are these two that I bought last year when Lowes was clearing out their plants. I paid 0.25 cents for each plants. I also got two hibiscus, same colour, that are now blooming also. Will get pictures of them tomorrow. So here are the roses which are the perfect red. Very Happy

I am so happy you are enjoying them. If only you could stroll and smell the fragrance of them all, not just the roses. The summer phlox and hostas are amazing.

This is one of my .25 hibiscus in bloom now.

I love this red hibiscus. It has not stopped blooming since the first bloom opened. New flowers everyday because each bloom lasts only a day, and the blooms increase daily.

I took some pictures a couple of days ago but had to upload them one at a time. No easy way of resizing in Windows 7. I will post only what I have uploaded so far.

Remember about 3 weeks ago I was in the woods digging wild flowers? Well some of them are now in bloom so here they are, no leaves just flowers for now. Which is the way they should be. Leaves come later.

This morning the ground is white with frost. Not sure anything will survive. Kind of happy I was able to take a few shots before this kill. The tulips are the ones that should have been a double light pink, instead they are single flowering and peachy pink. I like the colour but disappointed in the packaging which was deceptive.

The delicate wildflowers are very pretty. I have not seen those around here.
Your daffodils and the tulips are delightful too, thanks for taking the time to post them for us to enjoy.
